Jody Johnstone’s Kiln Opening Sale

For the first post pandemic show, I will be joining a number of local Maine craftspeople at the studio of Jody Johnstone in Swanville, just north of Belfast. Jody makes beautiful stoneware fired in an anagama (wood fired) kiln. This is her semi-annual open kiln sale and will feature live music and studio tours as well as wonderful handmade work.

Charlotte Hobbs Library Art and Artisans Fair
95 Main Street Lovell, Maine

This lively local show raises funds for the library in Lovell, Maine. It draws a range of craftspeople from Maine and New Hampshire, and is a much loved event. The first time I did this show, I saw a mother bear and two cubs cross the road right before I got to the school!

Laudholm Nature Crafts Festival
342 Laudholm Farm Road
Wells, Maine
10 am – 4 pm
Back for its 33rd year, this fair draws artisans from New England and beyond and is set in the beautiful Wells Reserve – a national estuarine research reserve. It is a major fundraising event for the reserve which maintains active research programs on our Maine Coast habitat. Come early to give yourself time to explore the 2,000+ acre preserve with miles of coastal trails.

The Common Ground Fair is quintessential Maine. Organized by the Maine Organic Farmers’ and Growers Association, the fair features farmers’ markets, agricultural demonstrations, Maine made products, demonstration gardens, educational programming, and amazing crafts by all Maine artisans. There are attendance limits this year to keep the fair safe for all. Please check the website for details.

Maine Crafts Association Guild Fine Craft Show

Sunday 10 – 4 pm
This will be a new show for me – I always add at least one new show every year. The reports I have heard say that this is a lovely show set in the wonderful old mill complex in Brunswick. The Maine Crafts Guild is known for running shows of exceptional quality, and I am happy to be joining them this year.

Designing Women is a great Maine organization that runs several shows a year that present the work of Maine women. The Freeport show is held at the stunning Waldorf School building (with no right angles!) and has a lovely community feel.

The Portland Designing Women Show has been a holiday tradition for twenty years. It is the place to find unique, handmade gifts for your family and friends. There is also delicious food available – a fundraiser for the Ocean Avenue Parent Teacher Organization.
