Boiled Wool Hats
A wool hat is a beautiful thing. Wool regulates your temperature, keeps you warm even when wet, looks great, and biodegrades at the end of its life. Because some people are sensitive to the feel of wool, many styles of my hats are lined or have a smooth silk or cotton band where the hat touches your skin.

Boiled Wool Adjustable Beret
Starting at: $75
Materials & Construction
Made from cozy boiled wool, this classically shaped hat has a cotton band where it touches your head so it is comfortable to wear. Above the band is a narrow piping to add a design detail, and within the band is an elastic cord that adjusts with a cord lock. If the wind picks up, you can snug the band closer to your head. The band is hand sewn on the inside. There is a bar tack across the opening in the back and topstitching around the crown.
This hat fits both men and women. The lower band (head circumference) adjusts from 21-23 inches. The diameter of the top circle is 8.5 inches.
I make each hat individually from fabric that I have knit and felted. This is the hat I wear all winter, and I have refined the design through many small adjustments so that it looks and feels just right. It is available in many color combinations and custom sizes.
Care
Berets can be hand washed using a gentle soap such as Soak or Eucalan. Avoid heat or agitation. Let the hat air dry after washing. A steam press will also freshen them up in between washings.
Boiled Wool Floppy Beret
Starting at: $75
Materials & Construction
This stylish hat can be worn many different ways to suit your individual look. The crown has a larger volume than a traditional beret, and visible, blanket-stitched seams. It is made from a fine boiled wool that is both warm and pliant. The base of the hat – the part that rests on your head – is bound in a cotton or silk fabric so there is no itch! Inside the band is a loose elastic to help the hat stay in place. There is an added pop of color on the inside of the band.
Although made in one size to fit most heads comfortably, I can make this to specifically fit your head size if needed.
This is a lighter weight hat, yet it is still warm because it is wool. It is available in many different colors and bands.
Care
This hat can be dry cleaned, but a quick steam press is all that is usually needed to keep it looking great.
Lined Brim Hat
Starting at: $95
Materials & Construction
For those who appreciate the warmth of wool but are sensitive to wearing it next to the skin, this hat is for you. This boiled wool hat is fully lined with a flannel-backed, satin coat lining. The brim of the hat is a contrasting cotton fabric that is itch free and rests comfortably on your head. This is the warmest hat I make – the lining blocks the wind, and your ears are covered by two layers of wool. The brim has an added hand sewn contrast silk band. This hat will keep your head warm even on cold, January mornings.
This hat frames your face in a lovely way and comes in small, medium and large for a good fit. Sizes fit head circumferences as follows:
Small 20.5 – 21.5 inches, 52-55 cm
Medium 21.5 – 22.5 inches, 55-57 cm
Large 22.5 – 23.5 inches, 57-60 cm
Care
Please dry clean.
Lined Cuffed Beanie Hat
Starting at: $95
Materials & Construction
Another style of a warm, lined hat, the cuffed beanie has a round crown and sits close to the head. It is lined in silk and has either a stitched wool fold back brim or a contrasting fabric band. There is an inner cotton band that provides itch free wearing comfort.
Care
Spot clean or dry clean.
Alpaca Tucked Hat
Starting at: $95
Materials & Construction
Alpaca is a soft, warm fiber. These hats are knit using alpaca yarns along with a thin cotton/Lycra yarn to increase the hat’s elasticity. The material is then felted to make a thick warm hat that is easy to wear. The sewn-in tucks add a nice detail, and the fold back cuff shows the selvage edge of the fabric
Care
The alpaca hats can be hand washed in lukewarm water with a gentle wool wash soap such as Soak or Eucalan. Simply let the hat soak in the water/soap mixture for 20 minutes or so, press out the excess water with towels (do not wring) and let the hat air dry.
